The Bedroom...

The owner of this master suite is a well-traveled French woman with very specific taste. I found this challenge exciting because it allowed me to recreate the beauty of France in her American home. I used rich silks, delicate embroidery, and plush velvets to deliver comfort and style to her master retreat. The amply gathered bed skirt and ruffled duvet make this bed scream romance. The oversized bolster pillow finishes the bed with a masculine touch.

The Bathroom...

Don't let small spaces prevent you from going over the top. This master suite is small in space, but big on luxury. Layers of beautiful silks and elegant trims are the jams and jellies that bring this small space to life. The functioning roman shade over the Jacuzzi provides needed privacy for the homeowner while adding a touch of sophistication to the room. On the adjacent window hangs another treatment that was created using the same fabrics put together in a contrasting style. This variety, along with custom painted cabinetry adds a unique visual interest to the room.

The challenge for this project was to design an entire room around 2 chairs that had very significant meaning to the owner. These colonial red chairs weren’t exactly the most modern in color, so I had to get creative. First, I saved the client some money by recovering the sofa since it was rarely used and still had good bones. I then painted the walls and made custom window treatments for each window. These simple and tasteful treatments with custom pleats and beading on the leading edge brought a special elegance to the room. Finally, I completed a lengthy search to find the appropriate rug to compliment the red in the chairs. This piece was important in anchoring the room, and added what I call the finishing touch.
